Forum för Health Policy

Forum för Health Policy is a project seeking to strengthen health policy analysis in Sweden. Its central objective will be to help generate new thinking to assist decision-makers as they confront a growing number of system-level structural and organizational challenges. The goal is to broaden the range of potential policy options for national and regional decision-makers.

The project focuses on health policymakers and health policy researchers in Sweden, with four inter-connected activities designed to strengthen the interaction between these two groups:

• Health policy network of researchers – to broaden and deepen the health policy debate in Sweden, and to develop evidence-based structural and organizational options for future policymaking. The network will include researchers in key health and policy related areas, including international researchers where appropriate. Network members will participate health policy research conferences, and agree to make themselves available to policymakers as useful.
  

• Workshops for Swedish Health policymakers – regularly scheduled opportunities for national and county level policymakers to meet with selected policy researchers to explore particular health policy issues, and to discuss broader system development questions.

• Targeted policy research – commissioned studies that provide system level policy analysis of key issues important for future system development. Topics will be selected from the most innovative papers and topics from the policy workshops, with the research studies designed to probe more deeply into the available evidence and experience.

• Health policy website www.healthpolicy.se – an internet-based focal point for posting existing and new system-level policy studies relevant to the Swedish health system, also providing links to key international websites and other valuable health policy resources.
